It is said that when designing, the designer can not predict how a user will use the space. A Passive user is consistent and predictable and is unable to transform space nor meaning, Reactive users are able to modify the physical characteristics of a space only within a narrow and predictable range of configurations which are largely defined by the architect and Creative users either create new space or gives an existing space meaning according to Hill (2003). As our text is a park where we want to promote freedom and not control the user negatively, we decided to place features in the park to re engineer the type of users. We placed arm rests to divide the park bench into 3 sections where 3 people can sit individually to admire the park. This is our only monoglossic voice within our park. This also prevents homeless people to sleep on the benches. We also wanted to introduce a Contractive heteroglossic experience to balance the monoglossic. We did this by placing fence around the running path to encourage people to run the full length, rather than stopping and running off the tracks. However having also 4 points in the park where they can go off the path and either into the park or out. Through these arrangements, we hoped to allow a space that values individual health and well being as we are promoting fitness and relaxation. In addition to this, in the working world where you socially need to constantly depend and be around people, the park is a space where they can independently enjoy, relax and admire. Overall we want to be seen as an institution that values individual health and well being.
