In design, you need to consider how "the use of several semitiotic mode show all the semiotic modes in the design of a semiotic product or event together with the particular way in which these modes are combined" (Kress and van Leeuwen2001 p.20). This is so as semiotc resources have only meaning when they are put in a certain way that give it purpose. If you consider our park for example, our rocky footpath is placed within the park as the visitor makes a promenade throught the flora. There is an intermosis as the rocky footpath interacts with the other semiotic resources (trees, grass, flowers). This increases the natural and raw experience for the visitor as they continue through the promenade. Further to this, there is a colligation of flora and fauna that give each other more meaning within our park. Our flowers bring bees and our trees bring an array of birds. This colligation shows that our flora is healthy enough to allow fauna to live. This interaction give the visitor positive experience as they feel the park is abundant. The intermodal complimentary within our park is important as we want the visitor to understand that they walking in a different space from the city and feel it is a vibrant park filled with life which connotes to positivity.
